FAQ

Buying, selling, fees and shipping

Straight answers. If your question is not here, ask a person.

Who is actually selling the car?

The seller named on the listing: a licensed dealer or a private owner. The Motor Block is the marketplace that lists the car, checks the title history and passes your inquiry to the seller. You buy directly from the seller; The Motor Block is not a dealer or broker and does not hold money.

Is the listed price the total I pay?

The listed price is the vehicle price. Tax, title, license, registration and any documentation fee are additional and depend on the state you register in. Ask for a written out-the-door figure for your state before you commit; we provide it.

Are there buyer fees to The Motor Block?

No. Buyers do not pay a fee to The Motor Block. You pay the seller the agreed price plus the tax, title and registration due in your state.

What does it cost to list my car?

Listing is free right now, and The Motor Block never takes a commission or a cut of your sale. If a flat listing fee or optional service applies, it is written into the listing agreement you sign on your phone before anything goes live. No surprises.

Can I see the car in person?

Yes, by private appointment arranged through the inquiry form or by email. The exact location is shared once a viewing is booked.

Can I get an independent inspection?

Yes, and we encourage it. Hire the specialist of your choice; we arrange access at the car's location and the report goes to you directly.

What documentation comes with a car?

Every listing shows the VIN and VIN-decoded specifications. Service records, a build sheet or window sticker, and reports such as a Porsche over-rev report are provided when they exist for that car, on request. If something does not exist, we say so rather than guess.

How does shipping work?

We quote enclosed and open transport to your door with the carrier's insurance certificate. Door-to-door usually takes one to two weeks across the country. You inspect at delivery before signing the bill of lading.

Do you take trades?

Dealer listings sometimes do; ask in the inquiry. Private sellers usually want a clean sale, but you can always list your own car here.

Is financing available?

For dealer listings, ask the dealer when you inquire. For private listings, your bank or credit union can finance a private party purchase; nothing is guaranteed until the lender approves it.

How do you verify a car before listing it?

Every car is run through Carfax and the federal NMVTIS title database before it goes live. Branded, salvage or rebuilt titles are not listed. The VIN is decoded for specifications, and the seller discloses history, modifications and known issues in writing.

How do I contact a person?

Use the inquiry form on any car, the Contact page, or email info@themotorblock.com. A person answers every message.
