Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 12, 2026. Applies to themotorblock.com and the email we send from it.
Who we are
The Motor Block LLC ("we") runs this website, an advertising marketplace for vehicles. Each vehicle is offered by the seller named on its listing (a licensed dealer or a private party), which receives the information you send about a car you want to buy. Questions about this policy: info@themotorblock.com.
What we collect
Notice at collection: every form on this site collects only what that form shows. We use it for the purpose stated next to the form and as described below, we keep it for the periods below, and we do not sell or share it.
- Information you give us. When you ask about a car, sign up for alerts, or list a car: your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, your message, and, for sellers, your vehicle's VIN, license plate, mileage, condition answers, photos and video, and the asking price. Seller photos may include your license plate, your driveway or your reflection; crop what you do not want shown.
- Information collected automatically. Pages viewed, the car you looked at, the search you typed, the link that brought you here, your device type and screen size, and your IP address in our server logs. We use first-party analytics on our own server. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking scripts.
- Cookies and local storage. We set a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage entries: a session cookie when you sign in to list a car, a security token for forms, your saved cars list, and a cookie that remembers how you first found us (for example, "google") so we know which marketing works. None of these track you across other websites.
How we use it
To answer your inquiry, arrange a viewing, inspection, shipping quote or sale; to review, verify and publish a car you list, including running the VIN through vehicle history and title databases (Carfax and NMVTIS); to send the new listing alerts you asked for; to keep the site working and secure; and to understand which pages and sources lead to sales. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for other companies' marketing.
Who we share it with
- The seller of a car you ask about (the dealer or private owner named on that listing) gets your name, contact details and message so they can answer you. Sellers agree to use it only to deal with your inquiry.
- Service providers who work for us: our web host, our email delivery provider, vehicle history and VIN decoding services, and, when a sale closes, a title and payment service, a transport carrier, and an inspection company you choose.
- Government agencies when the law requires it (for example, DMV title transfer and odometer disclosure on a sale).
- Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
Your choices and rights
- Alerts. Every alert email has a one-click stop link. We send no newsletters you did not ask for.
- Review, change or delete. Email info@themotorblock.com from the address you used and we will show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it, unless a law or a signed vehicle sale requires us to keep it. We answer within 30 days.
- California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, so there is nothing to opt out of. Use the email above to make a request; we may ask you to confirm the email or phone number on file to verify it is you.
- Do Not Track. We do not track visitors across other websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to change. Other parties do not collect information about your activity on this site over time and across different websites.
How long we keep it
Inquiry and alert records: until you ask us to delete them or two years after the last contact. Seller submissions that were never listed: 12 months. Signed listing agreements and sale records: four years, the California limitations period for written contracts.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Seller photos and documents are stored outside the public web folder and served only to the signed-in seller and our staff. Sign-in uses a one-time emailed code; we never store a password. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will notify you as California law requires.
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
When this policy changes in a material way we update the effective date at the top and, for sellers with an open submission, we email the address on file.
